Time to say bye
Well, it has been fun. It seems like it was only yesterday when i graduated from high school. I tackled a brand new chapter of my life expecting very different experiences from what I have now. One definite fact: I was afraid of university! I knew nobody but Karen, even though Jenn and I are from Unionville, we weren’t close in high school (our conversations were about how to hack restaurant city LOL). Now I look back at my first year experience, I realize it’s been a significantly unique segment of my life. I couldn’t ask for more.
I made many new friends this year. Some of which I know will be important people for the rest of my life, some not so much. But nonetheless, each and every person I met here in McMaster has different values and morals. Some display their kindness in a hidden fashion, while there are those that flaunt their positive attitudes directly. It’s funny actually, I communicated with everyone well, I would hope so :D
Friendships are valuable. I came knowing only Karen. Then I got closer to Jenn. Our foundation was made in hongkong ;) haha cheap bargaining malls! I miss that :P Then I met Justin through Jenn. Realized we were both from bates, yeeee B-A-T-E-S don’t get mad cause we’reeeee that BEST, BUH-BUH-BUH-BUH BATES. Hahaha. During frosh days, I met Jason through Jenn! Found out we both had a little interest in badminton haha. A week or so later, Jenn introduced me to her Hedden friends; Sandy, Maggie (not from hedden LOL), Natalie, Jeff and Simon. We all got close for a while, maybe because we were all super friendly during the first few weeks. My advice to incoming first years is to take advantage of that haha! Then when school work piled up, frequent visits to Hedden became costly. We remained in Bates (often) from then on. In doing so, I met Karen’s roommate Eva and got close to her in a ridiculously short amount of time! My first impression of Eva was like a typical party girl with typical emotional breakdowns with her relationships and stuff (I hear stories from Karen, “MY ROOMMATE’S CRYING AND YELLING AGAIN!” ROFLLL). I had a WRONG impression of her, now I know she is so much more. Then I met Susane, Tim, and Nico, via Eva and Justin. We are such a chillaxing group of individuals! Staying up until 6am everyday… watching movies and then missing all our classes the next day. Loved it. Then later on I met Daphne,Vivian and Kenneth through Eva and Susane. They came to bates a lot, and we just got tighter from then onwards :) somewhere along the year I met others, but they’re not that as important LOL joking!
I’m moving out tomorrow.. early in the morning at 9am! I will miss Bates a lot.. Nowadays, all you can see outside the window is everyone moving out. It’s kind of sad, reminds me of the crazy refs in jumpsuits singing welcome songs to me during move-in day. The school spirit was amazing. Then when class started, it just faded… into nothingness. I don’t think it existed at all throughout school! What you can tell from this is that McMaster has the heart of partying, but when it comes to academics, the time is directed 100% to studies. I like that, I think that’s how any student should balance their priorities. Have time to relax, know what’s important and focus on your ideals.
I’m really looking forward to summer school. It will be Karen Justin Jenn and Jason occupying the whole house from May 1st to June 23rd. We have to party it up… ORGANIC CHEMISTRY STYLE. Can’t wait :D

nom nom exams
I came home this weekend again, that makes three weekends in a row! Day 1, studied a lot of physics! Well, content-wise not a lot. I spent the whole morning trying to figure out freaking thin-film wave diffraction stuff. In other words, I did two questions.
I'm actually proud of myself, because usually when I do questions, I seek an equation and plug in numbers and that would be it. But now in university, life is not all that simple anymore. You actually have to understand where the equations are coming from. In that form of understanding is what studying should be. Memorizing equations are useless. Understanding and being able to manipulate your tools is what university is testing us! So don't just study hard, but study EFFICIENTLY hard!

Things for granted
I am 18 now, in 2 or so months i will turn 19; I will become a true adult! One of my biggest expectation I have for myself is to generally speaking, grow up. I want to learn to appreciate the things I have, be it family, education and/or relationships. For all my life, even up until now, everything has been given to me: money, laptop, cellphone, tuition, food, clothes... All those things come out of my parents' pocket and I never really thought of the hard work my parents have to endure to provide me with the best life they want me to have.
They ask me to focus on school, and I just listen. They tell me their responsibility is to financially support the family, and my responsibility is to succeed in school so when I grow up, I can find a good-paying job. University tuition is expensive. $550 a course, 51 classes fifty minutes in length. A little over $10 per class. Every time you decide to skip a class, think twice. I need to realize it's time for me to start taking care of myself, there isn't much I can do but to save money when there's an opportunity to do so; find a job perhaps?
A select few of my friends have fallen for my persona of being wealthy. I don't find it surprising but truth is, I am not at the least bit rich. In fact my family is kind of poor to a point where we owe many of our relatives money. I know it sounds bizarre but it's true. There was a sad time in my life 2-3 years ago when my dad's business finally collapsed. He was the boss of a 20-30 employee garment industry. Things didn't go well and my parents were depressed most of the time. Not one time did they show their sadness to my sister and I, they wanted us to perceive the situation as nothing important. They wanted us to be like normal kids and they did keep us like that. Any school supply I needed, anything... was given to me. Even the slightest bit of useless shit (like gameboys, yugioh cards like wow im such a dumbass wasted so much money on yugioh cards) they still gave it to me. I ask them now: "Why did you buy me all the useless things I wanted when I was little?" Its not like I needed them. They said: "for that A you got in math." All for encouragement.
I know this may make my life seem sad, but it's not. I could not ask for more, I've got caring parents and a happy little sister. On top of that, I have wonderful friends who are on my side no matter what happens. So thank you mom and dad, I will use every bit of my willpower to score a good mark on exams. I'll make you proud.
:)

These memories are fading awayy ..
I've started this blog in hopes of recording everything that is worth remembering in the future. Anything interesting I try to write it all here, maybe one day I might hit my head and suffer from amnesia! Who knows.. but I started this blog last year in October. It was during a time when all my high school experiences were already over, so I never really got a chance to blog about the moments of my high school life. So from what I remember, I'll try to write something about milliken prom :)
During the morning of June 4th 2009, it was like any normal day... going to classes, etc. I remember I had to request permission from my teachers to take the day off the next day, because I wasn't attending my own school's prom but there still exists an after party and therefore I will most likely skip the next day! So around 1:50pm, I left UHS and went back home, grabbed my stuff, went to Karen's house to get ready! Lisa and Miranda came, and they spent an hour to do their hair and make-up and girl-related stuff. They didn't take that long, I know some girls take FOREVER to get ready for formals, but I just guess they don't fit the stereotype of typical girls :P
We took a few pictures and headed off to Gary Chan's house. We were one of the last ones to arrive. Everyone including Gary Chan, Gary Lam, HaoMing, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Richard and Xin were already there. Jenny came a while later, and Canny had a militia finale thing so he had to come late into the end of prom. But aside from that, we took some nice group pictures, people put on each others' corsages and we were all so hyped :) we waited a while for the limo though, it was late. But it didn't really matter, we made use of the time to take more pre-prom pictures! When the limo finally came, we all stood by it and took ONLY ONE picture.. We were so rushed that the limo driver lady took the picture blurry. :( We all hopped onto the limo and bolted towards the mansion! We were only allowed a maximum of 10 people in the limo, so Jenny was the odd one out so she had to get a ride from her mom, so that sucked!
When we got there, the mansion seemed decent from the outside. Everyone was already inside, signing in and maneuvering from the balcony to the field to the stairs etc. The inside of the mansion didn't seem that nice, but then again maybe it's because I compared it with unionville prom, the banquet hall was 3x nicer! We walked around and got a professional group picture taken at the rooftop balcony place. Then later they opened the doors for us and we went into the dining hall! We found our table and sat and took more pics and stuff. It was really boring up to this point, even as the food came things didn't get more interesting. I forgot what they served that day, but it wasn't good. Oh well I wasn't hungry because I ate before (smart eh LOL) so it all works out! Halfway through dinner, they had the MC make us play a game. Toss the towels or whatever, but I don't remember it being fun.
Later, it was DANCING TIME! At first nobody danced because we were all so shy. But soon everyone hit up the dance floor! I think this was the best part of the whole night. Jumping around to brown songs (?) and taking crazy pics. Around this time was when Canny showed up! we chilled for a short moment and it was all over...
However, party doesn't stop just yet! we took the limo back to gary chan's house to change back to casual wear. Then we went to holiday inn for after party. I forgot how we got there, I think canny made 2-3 trips lol. We didn't do much at the motel, we were suppose to drink, but most of us didn't. We just chilled and watched the drunk Hao Ming do his thing hahaha. Well I guess that was it! Next day we went to Xin's house and it was all over!
I miss the high school days :(
